PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
ABOUT
Roll up, roll up! It’s the first time we’ve found an anaerobic natural from Rwanda, and we’re super excited to share it. As one of Alex’s favourite origins, Rwanda continues to impress with farmers’ ability to pick and process incredible coffee.
Rwanda, of course, has a deeply political history. From this perspective, the horrific Rwandan genocide of 1994 was a life-altering moment for all Rwandans. Coffee continues to be a source of income, stability and longevity for families whose futures have, in other times, been far less than certain. At Rumble, we pay tribute to and acknowledge those families affected and are dedicated to doing all we can to supporting them in the production of their coffee.
In this case, many initiatives have been put in place by the Koakambu Cooperative to support the producers of this coffee. They include, amongst others, the creation of a coffee nursery to increase production, the UTZ-certification of 925 farmers, the launch of women’s groups to subsidise income making handicrafts in the low season, wastewater treatment initiatives, and more.
