As the coffee industry becomes more and more sustainable. Some forward-thinking businesses are designing products which will make a real difference. One of these new age businesses is Stay Tray. A reusable coffee tray made from 100% recycled plastic. Stay tray is a reusable alternative to single use drink trays used at every café and fast-food restaurant across the globe.
Born and raised in Melbourne. Stay tray was designed to carry reusable coffee cups from the café nearby.
Australian Made
Officially recognized as an Australian Made and manufactured product. Early on, Founder Kate Stewart made a conscious decision to support local business. There are so many incredibly talented designers, engineers and manufacturers right here in Australia. Creating a great product at home was a no brainer for Kate.
In fact, Stay Tray keeps their operations super local. Every component of Stay tray, including all design, engineering, manufacture and sourcing of recycled plastic is undertaken within 60 km of Stay tray’s HQ on the Mornington Peninsula. Working with small family-owned businesses.
Stay tray uses 100% recycled plastic in the manufacture of all trays. Unlike single use cardboard coffee trays, which bend, tear and lose their shape. Stay tray is designed for a lifetime.
Stay tray takes sustainability even further. Developing a partnership with Closed Loop and their Simply Cups program. Single use coffee cups are collected from office buildings, shopping centres and stadiums right across Australia. These cups have always been disposed to landfill. However, they can now be used as a raw material in the manufacture of Stay tray. Just think, that single use coffee cup you used last week. It’s now part of your stay tray.
B Corporations
In 2020, Stay Tray received B Corp Certification. Becoming a B Corporation was important to Kate. B Corporations represent an emerging group of businesses dedicated to using the power of business to create a positive impact. Not competing to be the best in the world, but rather, to be the best for the world.
Over 50,000 businesses worldwide, including 3,000 Certified B Corporations, have used the B Corp Management Tool to assess their impact on their staff, community, customers, and the environment. Stay tray understands businesses have a responsibility to help solve the social and environmental challenges facing the world.
It’s been a great way for Stay Tray to enhance policies and practices pertaining to its mission, ethics, accountability and transparency. Stay tray has learnt how it contributes to the economic and social well-being of the communities in which it operates, and how to improve overall environmental stewardship.
